The ‘revamped’ Apple Ipod debuts earlier in September at Apple’s keynote “Rock and Roll”. There’s plenty of new Apple stuff announced, let’s recap.
iPod Touch
The second generation iPod Touch, featuring external volume controls, a built-in speaker, a contoured back, built-in Nike+, and Bluetooth support, was unveiled on September 9, 2008 at the “Let’s Rock” keynote presentation. The third generation iPod Touch with the new iPhone OS 3.1 was announced and subsequently released during the week of September 7, 2009. Its new features are faster hardware (same microprocessors, graphics engine and RAM as iPhone 3GS), remote, Voice Control and a microphone (available only on 32GB and 64GB models) and a new pricing structure.
iPod Nano
At Apple’s September 9, 2009 event, a fifth generation iPod Nano was unveiled with reduced prices on the larger model (at the time of release, the 8GB is priced at $149 and the 16GB at $179), a new glossy case, larger, 2.2″ diagonal screen (up from 2.0″ in third and fourth generation iPod Nanos), which is also wider (with an aspect ratio of 16:9), integrated video camera with special effects, microphone, FM Radio with iTunes tagging (via RDS) and Live Pause, Nike+iPod Support and speaker (features more anticipated with the iPod Touch.)
iTunes 9
The latest version, iTunes 9, was announced at Apple’s September 2009 keynote “Rock and Roll”. iTunes 9, the latest version, offers a new iTunes Store UI, Genius Mixes and has improved App synchronisation abilities. It also adds iTunes LPs to the store, which gives additional media with an album. Apple added iTunes Extras as well to the store, which adds content usually reserved for films on DVD and Blu-ray discs. Both iTunes LPs and Extras use web-standards HTML, JavaScript and CSS.
