Looks like Palm’s decision and new technology that the Pre would be able to sync with the iTunes store didn’t turn out the way they want it to be. Apple decides that they would block Palm Pre access to the iTunes store. Palm called the move a “direct blow” to Apple’s users. The latest version of iTunes, 8.2.1 after Apple’s announcement that it “does not provide support for, or test for compatibility with, non-Apple digital media players”, it has now patched the hole through which devices are detected as Apple products. I don’t know if it is a wise move by Apple to ban the Palm Pre from accessing the iTunes store. Not only that, the ban extends to non-iPod and non-iPhone hardware, including the Palm Pre, from syncing with the iTunes store. To me that’s a bad judgment call as much as I love my Apple gadgets, I’m a non-Apple Gadget fanboy too. Sure it will results in more money being generated for the ever growing popular Apple, but in the long-run, you’re also turning away potential and current customers who will find alternative online music/apps/content portal.
