January 17th, 2009 in Browsers, Microsoft by Uncle Sha

Microsoft has been ordered to remove their browser Internet Explorer from newly shipped PCs that comes with their Windows operating system, from European Union market.

The 27 nation union says Microsoft is violating their union’s antitrust rules.

E.U. statement, “Microsoft’s tying of Internet Explorer to the Windows operating system harms competition between Web browsers, undermines product innovation and ultimately reduces consumer choice”.

I think this is a good move as it will open up the browser marker to lesser known ones, and have a serious dent of IE browser dominance.
