Windows XP legacy it seems would still be kept alive for another year. With Windows 7 to debut soon, Microsoft is allowing such users who bought PC bundled with Windows 7 OS to downgrade to Windows XP.

Microsoft spokesperson was quoted, “Windows 7 users who are licensed and genuine, would be able to downgrade to any other previous version of Windows like Windows Vista, XP, 2000 or others too if possible.

They are not limited to just one OS version. Downgrade rights policies are the same for all of our main OEM partners and what you are talking about is not a special arrangement.

Since the End User right to Windows XP Professional is part of the license terms for these editions, it’s really about making facilitation options easier for our OEM customers and End Users.”

I wouldn’t know or what to expect of Windows 7, but Microsoft have been working for quite some time now on the new operating system.

I just hope it wouldn’t come to downgrading to an older OS, the XP that was released back in 2001, if Win7 is crap.
