With SSD or solid-state drives set to be more popular choice in notebook, the development have been at a phenomenal pace.
Toshiba just announced their 512GB SSD and will be on display at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.
The 3.5′ drives are based on 43nm MLC NAND. MLC NAND, vs. SLC NAND.
This technology allows higher capacity drives but at the expense of speed and reliability.
Toshiba’s 512GB SSD claims to have a maximum sequential read speed of 240 MBps and maximum sequential write speed of 200 MBp plus AES data encryption.
No price tag has yet been set by Toshiba and they plan to ship in in the 2nd quarter of next year.
