In June 2009 it was announced that Rare was producing a remake of the game for Xbox Live Arcade in the vein of Rez HD that it would not change any aspect of the original gameplay except for improved visuals and Xbox Live multiplayer options

Perfect Dark is due to be released on Xbox Live Arcade March 17, 2010 for a price of 800 Microsoft Points ($10 USD), with updated graphics and an improved frame rate.

The port is being handled by 4J Studios.

The port will also offer local multiplayer for up to four players, weapons from Goldeneye in multiplayer, online multiplayer for up to eight players and a leaderboard system.

God of War III

God of War III is an action-adventure videogame for PlayStation 3, developed by Sony Santa Monica, published by Sony Computer Entertainment and due for release worldwide in March 2010.

It is the fifth and final chapter in the current story arc, chronologically after God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War, God of War: Betrayal, and God of War II.

God of War III, however, will not be the last God of War game of the series.

The Ultimate Edition was announced on October 30, 2009, and will include exclusive content.

At the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards, God of War III was awarded the Most Anticipated Game of 2010 award.

Plot

Not much is known about the plot at this time. Kratos, along with the Titans will declare a new Great War against Olympus, looking for revenge for the deeds Zeus’ betrayal.

The story is likely to indicate Athena’s Words from God of War II, “The Titans Cannot Be Trusted”, suggesting that The Titans might have used Kratos for their own agenda to win the War.

The story will conclude the God of War Trilogy, however, God of War III will not be the last God of War.

Video Review

Gameplay

God of War III features gameplay similar to that of previous installments. Seven weapons have been confirmed so far: the Blades of Athena, the Blades of Exile, the Claws of Hades, the Nemesis Whip, the Blade of Olympus, Apollo’s Bow, and the Nemean Cestus, a pair of fist gauntlets shaped like lion heads acquired from Hercules.

This new weapon has the ability to smash through solid objects such as rocks and plowing through enemy shields, as well as a slightly smaller range than the extending chains as the Blades of Athena.

The Golden Fleece appears on Kratos’ arm in gameplay trailers and the demo, and the Icarus’ wings, showing that he keeps both from his adventure in God of War II.

However, it is unknown if Kratos keeps Poseidon’s Trident from the first two games.

Magic Abilities have been announced, with 4 abilities being confirmed, Army of Hades, Hephaestus Fury, Solar Flare and Army of Sparta.

Final Fantasy XIII Review

Final Fantasy XIII is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix and is the thirteenth installment in the Final Fantasy series.

It was released for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system in Japan on December 17, 2009 and in North America and PAL regions on March 9, 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game features both futuristic and natural elements; it is set between a land of wilderness and the high-tech world above it.

Following the story of Lightning, Square-Enix describes the theme of the game as “those who resist the world”.

Gameplay

The concept for Final Fantasy XIII’s battle system is to maintain the strategic nature of command-based battles.

The system stemmed from a desire to create battles similar to those found in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children.

Like those in Final Fantasy XII, enemies are integrated into the world environment.

However, unlike Final Fantasy XII, battles do not take place in the same “dimension.” Instead, there is a short transition and players are transported to a new battle screen, separate from the main playing world.

Plot

The plot of Final Fantasy XIII takes place in a world known as Pulse and revolves around the story of the fal’Cie, mechanical beings with godlike power created by a being called the Marker.

Each fal’Cie has crystals residing inside them. People who are marked by the fal’Cie are called l’Cie.

Each l’Cie has a Focus, a goal the fal’Cie wants him or her to fulfill within a certain amount of time; however, the fal’Cie do not explicitly say what the goal is: l’Cie learn what their Focus is by interpreting visions that are given to them.

L’Cie gain the ability to summon Eidolons (monsters who fight with the l’Cie), but this ability comes with a price: if a l’Cie dies before completing his or her Focus, fails to tame his or her Eidolon, or fails to complete his or her Focus within a set period of time, he or she becomes a monster known as a Cie’th.

If a l’Cie does complete his or her Focus, the reward is not much better: permanent transformation into a crystal. For this reason, being chosen as a l’Cie is seen as a curse.

Yakuza 3

Yakuza 3 is a PlayStation 3 video game, originally released in Japan as Like a Dragon 3, the sequel to Yakuza 2 and the fourth installment in the Yakuza series.

It is developed by Sega Japan’s CS1 Team and published by Sega.

It was released in Japan and South East Asia on February 26, 2009 and in North America and Europe on March 9, 2010 and March 12, 2010, respectively.

A sequel, Ryu- ga Gotoku 4, is currently under development.

Characters

Yakuza 3 main characters are Kazuma Kiryu and Haruka Sawamura though it has a casting of three hundred and sixty characters appearing in the main adventure and sub-scenarios.

Plot

Unlike the previous episodes the story is not written by Hase Seishu but by Masayoshi Yokoyama.

Yakuza 3 takes a departure from the first two games with its choice of setting: instead of focusing on the gritty cityscape of Tokyo and Osaka, it switches gears and sends Kazuma Kiryu to the Ryukyu Islands, Okinawa, where he runs the Morning glory orphanage with his adoptive daughter Haruka Sawamura (she calles him “Uncle Kaz”) who accompanied him in the previous episodes and the Movie Version.

The Morning glory orphanage is on a land that is owned by Shigeru Nakahara, the boss of a local yakuza clan or bo-ryokudan, known as the Ryudo Family.

Nakahara is under pressure from the country’s government to sell the land which is planned to become a seaside resort.

When his friend Daigo Dojima, late Chairman of the Tojo Clan, is involved in an assassination attempt, Kiryu once again finds himself in a series of tough situations and has to fight to protect his new sanctuary.
