This is really nifty news if you find mosquitoes a total pest.

Well scientists have found an innovative way to kill the little critters using laser! Yes you heard me right.

It seems that a technology developed for the missiles race during the Reagan era is being downsized, where the concept of Strategic Defense Initiative (a.k.a SDI or known to many as Star Wars) is now used to neutralize mosquitoes.

This whole idea came about when former Microsoft executive Nathan Myhrvold, was asked by Bill Gates to find ways to combat malaria.

Myhrvold now at Intellectual Ventures LLC, a patents company, came up with the zany but practical idea. Dr. Lowell Wood the architect of the SDI suggested suggested such a system could be used on mosquitoes.

This is way much cooler than swatting those darn mosquitoes eh.
