Check this out, hockey players from NFL who seeks to go faster on ice are testing on a new heated skate blades technology
The “resistor in the blades is powered by a rechargeable battery and regulated by a microprocessor located in the heel of the skate” which is said to cut down resistance on ice
Added also that, “The resistor heats the blade to 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit), or just above freezing point, and thickens the film of water between ice and blade that acts as a lubricant and makes skating possible.”
Cool hur, if only they could find ways not to frostbite while playing hockey too much now
