Now you can have the ability to remotely control your home locks using an internet connection, even from mobile phones
Schlage, a company specializing in commercial and residential security, has announced “Schlage LiNK: The First Z-Wave Enabled Locks That Allow Homeowners. To Control And Monitor Access To Their Residences And Enhance Home Automation”
The lock is keyless and uses 4 digit access codes that can be changed from the keypad or from a web browser. Temporary access can be given to guest, where the temporary codes can be deleted after a period of time
The concept behind this security feature uses LiNK tools for the ability to text or email alerts when a certain code is used, or log the access details over time
Z-Wave communication technology is another feature used where it allows the integration with other home automation systems like using an Ethernet connection to plug into an internet router
Schlage claims it is a secure device as it uses SSL protection for web portal, and AEC 128 bit encryption for wireless communications. The kit will cost $300 and the online service cost $13 per month
