The edge Firefox browser has over Internet Explorer is the variable add-on that you can install to extend the browser functionality

Well it seems that one of the add-on has raised a red flag as it was detected having malware in it

It is a Vietnamese Language Pack for Firefox 2. You won’t suspect it right, being it’s just a Language Pack

The malware is detected as HTML.Xorer and the malicious code was a result of the author’s system or network being compromised

If you’re infected it will to load a script from a malicious website

“Trusty Firefox has malware” is sort of misleading. The malware was, as you correctly note, not in Firefox but in an optional Firefox add-on used by a very small number of people (compared not just to Firefox but to popular add-ons.)
