It is rumored that social networking site MySpace is working on a platform webmail.

This is where MySpace will offer similar webmail giants services such as Hotmail, Gmail, and Yahoo! Mail.

I believe this is MySpace answer to provide a complete communal portal service all under one roof, all integrated for their users, rather than using other online services, pushing the advertising dollars away, when they could be earning that for themselves.
