A North Dakota senator, Byron Dorgan, wants his net neutrality bill passed, so that it would stop ISPs from blocking and managing Internet contents. If passed, starting next year January, this would mean the Internet will be an ‘open’ and much more ‘free’ place. There will be no more “toll charges on the Internet”. However ISPs such as Comcast, AT&T and Verizon Communications and cable and telephone companies are objecting to the Bill, defending that all their “customers have access to content available on the Internet”, and if no management & monitoring of traffic was done, “P2P applications would cause congestion” on their network. Will it be passed? I’m pretty sure Internet giants like Google, Yahoo and MSN will monitor this Bill closely. As for me, I would have thought more ‘freedom’ on the Internet wouldn’t hurt. Why not … So the Bill. Boon or Bane?
