Pew Research has done a study recently on social networking sites and the finding indicates that more and more adults are joining such sites. Back in February 2005, the figures was just 8 per cent for adult users and now it has increased to 35 per cent, figures calculated over a three year period. That figure is set to rise as more adults get Internet savvy and finding out that such social sites allows them to keep in touch with friends. Yes that’s the very reason why 89 per cent of most adults signed up for. But still the youth of aged 18 to 24 years old still rule the huge percentage of users at 75 per cent. Another finding is that MySpace user has mostly young teen to high school students, Facebook college kids, while LinkedIn caters to plenty of working adults. I believe as time goes by, acceptance of social networking sites will be a norm. Current generation of social network sites users as they grow older, will become the adult and the usage of social networking site will continue to grow exponentially.
