WolframAlpha is Google latest competitor and it has gone live.

The computational knowledge engine has gone live three days ahead of schedule it seems.

WolframAlpha is basically a search engine that rather than listing a list of web results, it provides specific answers by drawing on the accumulated knowledge of the Web.

Run by thousands of servers, well hopefully the avalanche of new web traffic won’t crash the site down.

Recall Cuil and Yahoo attempt to dethrone Google, that didn’t work out well.

Let’s hope WolframAlpha has a better outing eh … we do need a competitor for Google.
