Apple fanboys will be happy that the new iPhone will be out soon this month.
The iPhone 3G S was officially announced on June 8th, 2009 and will be released on June 19th at the 2009 Worldwide Developer’s Conference, held in San Francisco.
iPhone 3G S name itself, well S means Speed. Why? Because it will be entirely touchscreen and offers HSDPA speeds of around 7.2 Mbps.
The new iPhone 3G S will come in 16 GB and 32 GB variants. And the only gripe I have is that the iPhone does not contain any memory card slots for expanded storage, its all stored on the internal flash drive.
The iPhone 3G S will have a 3.0 megapixel camera, with auto focus and the new VGA video recording capability.
Hardware
iPhone 3G S features video recording, Voice Control, 16GB or 32GB of storage. The previous iPhone 3G model preserves its 8GB flash drive, but is now generally available at a reduced price. The iPhone 3G S was announced at WWDC 2009.
Graphics
iPhone 3G S supports Opengl ES 2.0.
Camera
The iPhone 3G S features a 3.0 megapixel autofocus camera that takes pictures and video. The camera automatically adjusts focus, exposure, colour and contrast and includes an automatic macro focus. The camera software also includes a “tap to focus” feature, where users can touch the display to select an object or area of interest, and the camera will automatically re-adjust the focus and exposure of the image. VGA video clips can also be recorded and edited from the iPhone 3G S by utilising the new trimming tool to trim the start and stop points. The phone also allows users to send pictures and video by email or MMS and post them to MobileMe or YouTube.
Voice Control
The iPhone 3G S has a feature which allows users to interact with the device through speech. For example, Voice Control can be used to dial the phone number of a specific contact, or to find out the name of a song which is currently playing on the device’s built in iPod. According to Apple’s “Compare iPhones” section, the iPhone 3G will not support Voice Control.
Digital Compass
The iPhone 3G S features a new digital compass to allow users to see which direction they are heading. Application support will allow users to track which direction they are heading and sync with the built-in GPS to track their path.
