British defence giant BAE Systems has a new £19million contract to develop the robots for the US Army

They will develop a series of tiny electronic spiders, insects and snakes where these tiny robots will be the eyes and ears for the soldiers during battlefield

These could save thousands of lives as these front-line prototypes could go into dangerous areas and safely back

The robots will be carried in battle and released into designated areas for reconnaissance mission. It will then relay images back to the soldiers’ hand-held or wrist-mounted computers, telling them of the enemy surrounding and numbers

Some robots other than equipped with sensors, some are equipped to detect the presence of chemical, biological or radioactive weapons
