Spam turns 30
03 May 2008
The origin of the internet actually started with the the US government where it used to run a computer network for the military and scientists This network is called the Arpanet and only a handful of users was privileged to have the access Common mode of communication was via email and a marketer, Gary Thuerk had a brilliant idea by sending an email to 393 users of Arpanet to hawk his product, which was sent on 3 May 1978 And that is history as it became first spam email ever And by the way, Gary was reprimanded by the Arpanet administrators. In today’s context, that would be impossible being that some 100 billion spam messages are sent per day Thank god for spam filter Happy spamiversary!
