July 18th, 2008 in Solar by Uncle Sha

Check out this Solar Taxi. A brainchild of a Swiss teacher who did it all on his own. A car that can drive up to 200 miles (321km) and top speed of 60MPH (96km/h) on just one recharge. And it won’t cost you a dime, you just need the sun and not a single drop of CO2 emission was created

In Singapore the prices of owning a car in Singapore has risen exponentially currently. I still dream of having my own car in the future of course, but not for now as I find it not within my means yet. I think we need a radical change in our automobile concept. It all boils down to oil.

Yes, as long there’s mass production of oil barrels that dictates and by far the biggest factor that affects many economies, the alternatives available which are cheaper and much cleaner will never get its fair share of funding, research and development

Take for example the solar car. For years I’ve been following and fascinated by these cars which totally run on electric power cells and these cells are powered on the sun energy solely. But there have not been a commercial use or major development on it as long oil is still around

It will always be pending for research at labs or on exhibition and display only. I think the potential for solar can be big but only when our wells of oil has dried up, will I believe the shift in focus for clean energy fuel will get its full attention. By then I hope it won’t be too late as our Gaia (Earth) is now a ticking timebomb, a global warming disaster looms as if we don’t fix the fossil fuels issues, Gaia will ‘fix’ it for us
